Joshua LaVigne, PhD

Joshua LaVigne, PhD, a licensed clinical neuropsychologist, leads NeuroClinic and Assessments. With more than 15 years of experience, he founded NeuroClinic and Assessments with a genuine passion for helping patients and families find clarity and support.

He practices at both our McHenry, Illinois, and Schaumburg, Illinois, offices.

Specialties

Dr. LaVigne specializes in the evaluation and diagnosis of brain injuries, illnesses, and neurodivergence, providing thorough, compassionate assessments that guide people toward understanding and next steps.

Beyond his love of brain science, Dr. LaVigne is a self-described ‘huge nerd’ who enjoys all kinds of gaming, cooking, and hiking. Most important of all, Dr. LaVigne will listen to patient and family concerns and never talks down to them.

Credentials

Dr. LaVigne holds master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. He then completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship.

Dr. LaVigne is also a member of the National Academy of Neuropsychology and the Society for Clinical Neuropsychology (APA’s Division 40).

Affiliations

Dr. LaVigne is affiliated with Northwestern Medicine hospitals in McHenry, Woodstock, and Huntley, Illinois.

He has also served the local community in many meaningful ways. For example, he has served as:

  • Physician sponsor for the McHenry County chapter of Think First, a national brain and spinal cord injury prevention program.
  • Member of the McHenry County Traumatic Brain Injury Task Force.
  • Part of Leadership Greater McHenry County.
  • Member of the Task Force on Aging.
  • Former president and board member of the Mental Health Resource League, a non-profit organization that raises funds for mental health treatment in McHenry County.

Dr. LaVigne’s Compassion Stems From Personal Experience

Like so many, Dr. LaVigne has family members who have lived with dementia and neurodivergence. Therefore, he understands firsthand the frustration of navigating an often overwhelming medical system without getting clear answers or guidance. He also appreciates the tremendous relief for patients and their families who finally receive a thoughtful, accurate diagnosis.

Dr. LaVigne’s goal is to empower you and your loved ones with the knowledge you need to not only understand your condition but also to move forward confidently.
