To get started with a neuropsychological evaluation or individual therapy, simply call our office. We will help you verify the extent of your insurance coverage.

For all our locations, our phone number is:        815-344-1999

We will also provide any forms you may need to complete before neuropsych testing.

Cost of Neuropsych Testing and Therapy

One of the main questions that patients ask is about the cost of neuropsych testing or therapy. We accept most major insurance plans and also self-pay patients.

Although you are technically responsible for coverage, we can help you verify your insurance benefits before testing or beginning therapy.

Insurance Coverage

We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, Humana, Tricare, and UnitedHealthcare.

Please contact our office before your appointment so we can verify your coverage and confirm your plan details with your insurance carrier. In most cases, your insurance will cover all or part of your visits, but coverage varies by plan.

If you do not have insurance or if your plan does not cover our services, feel free to contact us to discuss other payment options.

Self-Pay

If you do not have insurance, please call our office to discuss payment options.

For billing questions or to make a payment, please call us at (815) 344-1999.

What to Expect During a Neuropsychological Evaluation

The evaluation consists of a clinical interview and testing.

Clinical Interview

You will participate in a thorough clinical interview to obtain an in-depth understanding of the issues or problems you may be experiencing. Often, it is helpful to have a family member or caregiver present during this portion of the evaluation. Read who should be there.

Testing

The exact tests you will take depend on the particular brain function(s) your healthcare providers want to check. The testing sessions usually last about four to six hours.

How You Might Feel About the Testing

You might feel nervous about the testing, and this is a normal response. Rest assured, our staff members will work hard to make you feel comfortable and at ease.

If you’re like some people, you may find neuropsych testing a little boring; if you’re like others,  you might find it interesting and fun.

Either way, the tests are meant to test your limits, so don’t be discouraged if they seem complicated or challenging.

Who Should Be at Your Neuropsych Testing Appointment

We encourage family members to attend your neuropsych testing appointment with you. They can often help provide information during the interview portion, if desired.

Additionally, a parent or guardian should be present for patients under age 18. We ask that a parent or guardian stay on site throughout testing.

All family members and guardians are welcome to wait in our comfortable waiting area during the testing portion when patients work one-on-one with the examiner.

Emergency Situations

If you are in a crisis and require immediate attention, please dial 9-1-1 or go to the nearest hospital.
